Why ‘Can’t’ You Speak English?
Have you ever gone to an English course?
Have you ever taken private English lessons?
Did you have English lessons in High School or University?
And now the BIG question…
CAN YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?
If you can’t speak English – don’t feel bad.
You’re not alone.
In a recent survey, 92% of people who went to English courses said they still can’t speak!
So… You might be asking: Why can’t I speak English?
- You worked hard.
- You studied your grammar and lessons.
- You memorized new words.
- You went to an English course for 3,6, maybe even 12 months.
- Or you went to an English education high school – or spent 9 months in a university ‘preparation’ English course.
9 months is a long time! I think 9 months is more than enough time to learn and speak English.
So why can’t you speak?
You can’t speak English because you never learned:
How to learn a language
And – if you don’t know how to learn English – then how can you learn to speak English!
Trying to learn English in a language school, English course, or even private English lessons is like trying to learn music from a History Professor.
The History Professor can explain the ‘History of Music’.
But he can’t teach you to play guitar!
You must learn to play guitar – from a person who plays guitar!
Logical – right?
But I’ll tell you a ‘dirty’ secret…
Some English teachers can’t speak English!
And many ‘native speaker’ English teachers can’t speak a second language!
How can you learn to speak English – from a person who doesn’t speak English?
How can you learn a second language – from a person who doesn’t speak a second language?
The Real Simple Truth
Many people say:
“I can understand English but I can’t speak!”
How much do you understand?
50%? 60%? Less???
If you want to speak English fluently – you MUST understand 80% – 95%.
If you don’t understand – how can you speak?
If you only understand 50% – you will speak less than 50%.
Does that make sense?
Your FIRST JOB is to:
- Understand more English.
How do you understand more? The only way is to LISTEN.
THEN – you can practice your pronunciation, learn more words, and finally…
The truth is:
It doesn’t take any special ‘talent’ to learn and speak English… But it does take TIME and EFFORT.
The truth is:
Most people will not spend the time. They will not spend the effort. And they will not speak.
Will you be different?
It’s your choice.
